The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the notification for the Merit Scholarship Scheme for Single Girl Child (SGC) for the academic year 2024-25. This scheme is dedicated to meritorious girl students who are the only child of their parents and have excelled in their Class X examinations.

Selected students will receive a scholarship of Rs. 1,000 per month for a period of two years (Class XI and XII). This initiative aims to recognize the efforts of parents in promoting education among girls. Applications are now open, and eligible students must apply online.

Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for this prestigious scholarship, the candidate must meet strict criteria set by the CBSE. Please check the requirements below:

• Single Girl Child: The applicant must be the only child of her parents. (Note: All children born together are considered single girl children).
• Academic Performance: She must have passed the CBSE Class X Examination in 2025 with 70% or more marks.
• Current Study: She must be continuing her education in Class XI and XII in a CBSE-affiliated school.
• Tuition Fee Cap:
  • Tuition fee for Class X should not have exceeded Rs. 2,500 per month.
  • Tuition fee for Class XI & XII should not exceed Rs. 3,000 per month.
  • (For NRI applicants, the maximum tuition fee allowed is Rs. 6,000 per month).
• Income Limit: Students with a gross parental/family income of up to Rs. 8 Lakh per annum are eligible.
• Nationality: Open to Indian Nationals only.

Scholarship Benefits

The scholarship provides financial encouragement to meritorious students. Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 1,000 per month. Payment Mode: The amount is transferred directly via ECS/NEFT. Duration: Maximum of two years, subject to promotion to the next class with 70% aggregate marks.

Required Documents

Applicants must upload specific documents for verification. Failure to verify these documents by the school will lead to rejection.

• Affidavit: A self-declaration by the parent on a non-judicial notarized stamp paper of Rs. 10/- (Format provided in the notification).
• Fee Receipt: The first quarterly fee slip duly verified by the Principal.
• Income Proof: Evidence of annual family income.
• Photo & Signature: Scanned passport-size photo and signature of the student.
